Don’t Miss This Tuesday, July 19th -- Casino Public Meeting Announcement

Want to know more about the casino issue? This is the meeting you want to attend. Jeff Benedict, author of “Without Reservation”, does a great job.

When: Tuesday, July 19th at 7:00 pm

Where: Fort Vancouver High School, 5700 E 18th St Vancouver. That’s near the corner of E. 18th and Devine Rd.

What: Special local appearance by Jeff Benedict, author of the great book “Without Reservation” about the creation of a local Indian tribe from nothing to their building of the worlds largest casino in Connecticut.

Sponsor: Citizens Against Reservation Shopping (CARS)

Background:

The newly formed Citizens against Reservation Shopping (CARS) led by city leader Ed Lynch is sponsoring a free public meeting with Connecticut author and Indian casino expert, Jeff Benedict, at 7 p.m. next Tuesday, July 19 at Fort Vancouver High School in Vancouver.

Benedict is author of the book, "Without Reservation", an account of how the world's largest casino came into being in Connecticut.

Benedict is also president of the Connecticut Alliance against Casino Expansion, the successful citizens committee that greatly slowed, and may have stopped, casino construction in that state. It is stopped for now but court cases continue with more tribes wanting to build casinos.

A frequent public speaker, Jeff has testified about the influence of money and lobbyists on the U.S. Interior Department's decisions to grant tribal recognition status to groups backed by casino moguls.

Please join us for a fascinating evening and help build the momentum necessary to put a stop to 'reservation shopping' at La Center.

This message intended as a public meeting announcement for residents of Clark County who may be impacted by a proposed development.
