The event is scheduled to start with a 6:30 PM social hour Thursday, July 24 at the Central Oregon Environmental Center. It will feature the release of George Wuerthner's new book, "Welfare Ranching: The Subsidized Destruction of the American West." Also to be shown will be the Sierra Club's new video "Desert of Pastured Cattle and the American Southwest." The Environmental Center is located at 16 NW Kansas Ave in Bend. RANCHERS RALLY TO STATE THEIR POINT OF VIEW Ranchers from around Oregon will attend the event beginning at the 6:30 PM social hour at the Central Oregon Environmental Center. BUT FIRST, they will meet at the El Caporal Restaurant in Bend at 5:00 PM. Ranchers from across Oregon will gather at the El Caporal Restaurant in Bend at 5:00 PM Thursday to meet and organize their visit to the Central Oregon Environmental Center, about two blocks away. The El Caporal Restaurant is at the South East Corner of Franklin and Bond in Bend. Going South on 97, you should plan to turn right on Franklin. Going North, you would turn left. It is important for as many ranchers as possible to come to Bend Thursday afternoon to explain to urban and rural attendees as well as the press why grazing is good for the environment and dispel the misinformation spread by George Wuerthner’s book. This effort is being coordinated by Sharon Livingston at (541) 421-5276. She will be attending as a private citizen and not officially representing any organization. Her e-mail address is [email protected] Also taking calls is Steve Payer. He can be reached at (541) 322-9962 This event should be great fun as well as productive. Sharon lives 200 miles away. Let’s see who tops that. And remember, plan to keep it peaceful and fun. Please call Sharon or Steve or drop Sharon a note to let her know you will be at the restaurant or will come directly to the Environmental Center. If you cannot make it by 5:00 PM, come when you can. Or just come to the Environmental Center at 6:30 or when you can get there. PLEASE CALL AS MANY OTHER RANCHERS AS POSSIBLE. DO NOT ASSUME THEY GOT THIS MESSAGE. FORWARD THIS MESSAGE WIDELY. -- To unsubscribe from this mailing list; please visit http://governance.net and enter your email address.
