It could be delayed. The vote is not likely to occur until later in the day. Debate on the ESA could start in the morning on C-Span. It is critical that we know how your Congressman is going to vote or which way he or she is leaning. Please write us back and tell us either that your Congressman will vote yes, no or is leaning one way or the other. Just send a short e-mail to [email protected] This is a remarkable time in history. It is your chance to actually try to improve and fix the Endangered Species Act. In 31 years, only 10 species have been recovered out of nearly 1,300 listed Threatened and Endangered Species. With a success rate of less than one percent, the ESA is not effective at saving threatened and endangered species. At the same time, the corresponding rules and regulations have, in many cases, strangled local economies, hurt businesses, farmers, landowners and Federal land users causing severe repercussions that impact everything from school funding to jobs to economic development — even hampering important environmental protections. We can do better. We can recover species while protecting landowners, businesses and our economy. The vote on the House floor affects you, your job, your community and the protection of Endangered Species. You have a chance to really make a difference. Don’t sit on the sidelines. If you have not been affected by the ESA yet, you will be. No is your chance to make a real difference. Your call could be the one that turns your Representative in favor of HR 3824.
