Doug Frederick was born in the Slana/Nabesna area and has lived there for 55 years.  He helped build Sportsmen's Paradise Lodge on the Nabesna Rd. in 1967 with his folks and his brother.  He has a property on Copper Lake that the family has been working on since the late 50's. His father, Richard Frederick, passed away in July 2001 and he and his wife Judy took over the lodge.  His mother is now living in Anchorage.

Judy Frederick is of Athabascan native heritage and is a Doyon shareholder.  She was born and raised in Nenana.  Her late parents, Tony and Dina Jensen, lived in Nenana. 

VERY IMPORTANT:   THERE ARE TWO DISTINCT ISSUES HERE.  DO NOT CONFUSE THEM!!
